Job summary

Staffbase Recruitment Ltd is recruiting an experienced Electrical Engineer for a client specializing in switchgear and control panels. You will own electrical design from specification through to manufacture, testing and compliance, liaising with suppliers and internal teams to resolve technical queries.

The role focuses on design, documentation, BOMs, and component selection, with emphasis on safety, reliability and manufacturability within industry standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' relevant experience as an Electrical Engineer.
• Experience producing electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical designs, circuit diagrams, wiring schematics and BOMs.
• Select electrical components and prepare equipment specifications.
• Support design reviews, prototype development and release for manufacture.
• Assist with testing, fault investigation and compliance documentation.
• Ensure designs meet IEC 62271, EN 50152 and IEC 60947 standards.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing, assembly and testing teams.
• Liaise with suppliers, customers and internal departments to resolve queries.
• Drive product improvements in safety, reliability and cost.

WE’RE HIRING: Electrical Engineer – Switchgear & Control Panels

Staffbase Recruitment Ltd has been appointed to recruit an experienced Electrical Engineer for our client, an established engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of switchgear and control panels.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a specialist engineering business, taking ownership of electrical design and development activities from initial specification through to manufacture and testing.

The Role

Reporting to the senior engineering team, your responsibilities will include:

• Producing electrical designs, circuit diagrams, wiring schematics, calculations and technical documentation.
• Selecting electrical components and preparing equipment specifications and bills of materials.
• Supporting design reviews, prototype development and design release for manufacture.
• Assisting with development, routine and type testing, fault investigation and compliance documentation.
• Ensuring designs meet relevant electrical standards, including IEC 62271, EN 50152 and IEC 60947.
• Providing technical support to manufacturing, assembly and testing teams.
• Liaising with suppliers, customers and internal departments to resolve technical queries.
• Driving product improvements in safety, reliability, manufacturability and cost.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be a qualified Electrical Engineer with at least 5 years’ relevant experience, ideally within switchgear, control panels or power distribution equipment.

You will also have:

• Experience producing electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software.
• A sound understanding of electrical components, manufacturing and testing processes.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Experience in railway electrification, protection and control circuits, switchgear testing or relevant electrical standards would be advantageous.
