Job summary

Tec Partners Recruitment Ltd in Newmarket is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing team. You will design control panels and switchgear to meet customer requirements, ensure safety and compliance, and produce schematic/layout data using AutoCAD.

Your role includes selecting components for UK/EU/international applications, participating in reviews, and supporting sales engineering with technical guidance and problem-solving.

Qualifications

• Experience designing control panels and low-voltage distribution boards.
• AutoCAD Electrical proficiency.
• Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Design control panels and switchgear to meet customer specs.
• Advise on compliance with safety standards and legislation.
• Produce manufacturing data including schematic/layout drawings.
• Create bills of materials and test procedures.
• Specify electrical components for UK/EU/international use.
• Participate in design and quality reviews.
• Collaborate with applications, sales, production and quality teams.
• Support sales engineering by identifying issues and proposing actions.

Job description

Our client based in Newmarket is looking to hire a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its expanding team.

As an Electrical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Designing control panels and switchgear to meet customers' specific requirements, ensuring compliance with legislative and safety standards.
• Anticipating future legislation and advising customers on product, service, or equipment adherence to requirements.
• Producing high–quality manufacturing data, including schematic and layout drawings using AutoCAD.
• Creating reports such as bills of materials and test procedures.
• Specifying and selecting electrical components for UK, EU, and International applications.
• Participating in design and quality reviews for new and existing products.
• Collaborating with the applications and sales, production, and quality teams, providing technical support and guidance as needed.
• Contributing to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short–term and long–range issues and recommending options and courses of action.

To be considered for this Electrical Design Engineer role, you will need the following:

• Experience in the design of control panels and low–voltage distribution boards/switchboards
• AutoCAD Electrical proficient
• Experience in interpreting different technical schematics and report formats, including electrical and mechanical.
