Job summary

Apex Resource Management is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Crewe for a 6-month contract. You will design, develop, validate, and support EE systems, collaborating across engineering teams to meet project timing, cost and quality goals.

You will own electrical components, work in a systems engineering framework, and prepare specifications and regulatorily-compliant documentation. German language skills are advantageous, and experience with Vector tools is valuable.

Qualifications

  • Strong design and development experience in electrical/electronic (EE) systems.
  • Knowledge of electric vehicle functions, including hardware, software and integrated systems.
  • Experience working in a systems engineering environment.

  • Understanding of financial considerations and cost awareness.
  • Experience using Vector tools and logging capability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a high level of technical expertise in EE systems.
  • Collaborate with peers across engineering functions and wider group.
  • Own electrical and electronic components including ECUs and sensor elements.
  • Work within a systems engineering environment using a function-oriented approach.
  • Deliver projects from concept through production release and after-market support.
  • Prepare technical specifications, bid specs and regulatory documentation.
  • Support design activities including packaging, diagrams and software considerations.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and engineering partners throughout the lifecycle.
  • Plan and support validation and testing activities, including test planning and issue resolution.
  • Manage engineering changes and provide production support.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, project updates and problem-solving reviews.
  • Raise technical concerns and support issue management for delivery success.
  • Ensure compliance with company, VW Group and Health & Safety requirements.

Role Summary

This role is responsible for the end-to-end design, development, validation and ongoing support of Electrical and Electronic (EE) systems within a systems engineering environment. Working collaboratively across engineering teams and wider group counterparts, the successful candidate will deliver technical solutions that meet project timing, cost and quality objectives while ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.

Role & Responsibilities of an Electrical Engineer
  • Develop and maintain a high level of technical expertise in Electrical and Electronic (EE) systems.
  • Work collaboratively with peers across engineering functions and wider group counterparts.
  • Take ownership of assigned electrical and electronic components, including ECUs and sensor elements.
  • Operate within a systems engineering environment using a function-oriented development approach.
  • Deliver projects from concept through to production release and end-of-production support.
  • Produce technical specifications, bid specifications and documentation, including regulatory requirements.
  • Support design activities including mechanical packaging, mounting, circuit diagrams and software considerations.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and engineering partners throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Plan and support validation and testing activities, including test planning and issue resolution.
  • Manage engineering changes and provide ongoing production support.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, project updates and problem-solving reviews.
  • Raise technical concerns and support issue management to ensure successful system delivery.
  • Ensure all activities comply with company, VW Group and Health & Safety requirements.
Requirements Of The Role

  • Bachelor's degree (e.g. BEng) or equivalent qualification (e.g. HND) in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • Associate membership of a relevant professional institution is desirable.
  • Commitment to following Health & Safety policies and procedures.
