OLG Recruitment is currently seeking an Electrical Designer/Engineer for our client located in Immingham. This is a long-term contract position working Monday to Friday.
The successful candidate will supervise, review, and check electrical activities, including philosophies, specifications, schedules, drawings & diagrams, datasheets, and technical requisitions for long lead items. A good knowledge of electrical systems and electrical design software packages is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in multi-discipline engineering design reviews and provide all necessary power and electrical engineering input and support to close out actions.
- Identify a clear scope of work and prepare the Master Document Register (MDR). Responsible for planning and scheduling electrical engineering activities and manpower resources.
- Prepare and review electrical designs.
- Delegate supervision and checking activities to competent personnel.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies from original proposals or contracts by raising technical queries with projects or clients.
- Quantify engineering deliverables, man-hour allocations, and delivery formats; provide project control and reporting inputs.
- Support procurement by preparing technical requisitions, reviewing vendor documentation, and supporting technical bid evaluations.
- Ensure compatibility with client specifications and recommend cost-effective improvements within scope.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with ISO quality procedures and project quality plans.
- Coordinate internal and client audits of engineering systems.
- Comply with frameworks such as ISO 14001.
- Perform other duties as instructed by the EC&I Head of Department.
Qualifications:
- BSc / BEng with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
- HNC/HND/BTEC in electrical engineering with relevant experience considered.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
- Chartered or working towards IEng/CEng.
- Good commercial, contractual awareness, and risk management skills.
- Experience with processing plant construction, commissioning, and operation.
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:
- At least 10 years of general engineering experience, with 7+ years in the oil and gas sector focusing on design and field engineering.
- Knowledge of UK electrical standards (BS7671).
- Understanding of functional safety and hazardous areas.
- Knowledge of high, medium, low, and extra low voltage electrical systems.
- Ability to produce cable calculations and participate in factory acceptance tests.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in electrical design programs and database/spreadsheet skills.
- Leadership skills with effective delegation abilities.
- Understanding of international standards and regulations, including cyber protection.
- Experience working closely with instrumentation teams.
