Job summary

Pertemps Bond is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer – Product Development in Clevedon. You will design, develop and maintain electrical modules and sub-assemblies for new and existing products, collaborating across teams to meet specs, quality standards, deadlines and cost targets.

The role requires hands-on experience with electrical schematics and BOMs, plus CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical. Hybrid working is available, with a supportive engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
• At least two years' industry design experience.
• Experience designing electrical schematics and cable assemblies.
• Experience creating BOMs and selecting electrical components.
• Experience using electrical CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical.

About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join an established engineering team in Clevedon, working on electrical systems for specialist equipment.

You will design, develop and maintain electrical modules and sub-assemblies for existing, new and customised products. Working with teams across the business, you will help deliver designs that meet technical specifications, quality standards, project deadlines and cost requirements.

This role would suit an electrically qualified engineer with practical design experience who enjoys working collaboratively on engineering projects.

Hybrid working is available, subject to business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain electrical modules and sub-assemblies for new, existing and customised products.
• Create and update electrical schematics, cable assemblies and bills of materials.
• Select suitable electrical components to meet design requirements.
• Ensure designs meet engineering specifications, quality standards and project deadlines.
• Produce detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, models, calculations, design data and test information.
• Provide electrical engineering support to other departments when required.
• Work with cross-functional teams to meet project requirements.
• Participate in design reviews, project meetings and technical discussions.
• Contribute to improvements in engineering processes and methods.
• Keep technical knowledge up to date through training and development.

About You

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, or relevant electrical engineering qualifications and experience.
• At least two years' industry design experience.
• Hands‑on experience designing electrical schematics and cable assemblies.
• Experience creating bills of materials and selecting electrical components.
• Experience using electrical CAD software, such as AutoCAD Electrical or similar.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• The ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
