Job summary

Pertemps South Wales is recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer to join the product development team in Clevedon. You will design, develop and maintain electrical modules for new and customised equipment, working with cross‑functional teams to meet specs, quality and deadlines.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least two years of design experience, with hands‑on schematics and BOM work. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• At least two years' industry design experience.
• Hands-on experience with electrical schematics and cable assemblies.
• Experience using electrical CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain electrical modules and sub–assemblies for new, existing and customised products.
• Create and update electrical schematics, cable assemblies and bills of materials.
• Select suitable electrical components to meet design requirements.
• Ensure designs meet engineering specifications, quality standards and project deadlines.
• Produce detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, models, calculations, design data and test information.
• Provide electrical engineering support to other departments when required.
• Work with cross–functional teams to meet project requirements.
• Participate in design reviews, project meetings and technical discussions.
• Contribute to improvements in engineering processes and methods.
• Keep technical knowledge up to date through training and development.

About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join an established engineering team in Clevedon, working on electrical systems for specialist equipment.

You will design, develop and maintain electrical modules and sub–assemblies for existing, new and customised products. Working with teams across the business, you will help deliver designs that meet technical specifications, quality standards, project deadlines and cost requirements.

This role would suit an electrically qualified engineer with practical design experience who enjoys working collaboratively on engineering projects.

Hybrid working is available, subject to business requirements.

About You

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, or relevant electrical engineering qualifications and experience.
• At least two years' industry design experience.
• Hands–on experience designing electrical schematics and cable assemblies.
• Experience creating bills of materials and selecting electrical components.
• Experience using electrical CAD software, such as AutoCAD Electrical or similar.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• The ability to manage deadlines in a fast–paced environment.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
