Job summary

Morgan McKinley (South West) is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Birmingham to lead the design of high‑integrity enclosures and control systems for naval platforms, with EMC and environmental requirements considered from the outset.

You will drive the full design lifecycle from concept through prototype to production handover, collaborating with mechanical and production teams and supporting security clearance processes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Electrical Design within a high-integrity environment (Defense, Aerospace, Nuclear, or Rail).
• Proficiency in Power distribution, Control circuitry, and PCB integration.
• Experience designing for harsh environments with IP ratings and ruggedisation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of high-integrity enclosures, power distribution units, and control systems for naval applications.
• Produce detailed specifications, wiring diagrams and BOMs from customer requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with maritime and defense standards and obtain security clearance.
