Job summary

Automation Experts is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to develop electrical systems for modular HVAC and packaged plant solutions in Worcestershire. You will design, calculate and document electrical layouts, working with mechanical and controls teams across the project lifecycle.

The role requires 2+ years in electrical design, BS 7671 knowledge, and proficiency with design software. Strong teamwork, problem solving and communication are essential for successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of electrical design experience.
• Strong knowledge of BS 7671:2018 (18th Edition) and IET guidance.
• Experience with Trimble ProDesign or equivalent.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, mechanical information and motor data.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical designs in line with project requirements.
• Carry out supply, load, earthing and cable sizing assessments.
• Prepare load schedules, cable calculations and protective device coordination studies.
• Produce single line diagrams, cable schedules and earthing/bonding schematics.
• Produce switchboard and distribution board layouts and schedules.
• Complete fault current, disconnection time and discrimination studies.
• Ensure designs comply with BS 7671 and UK/EU directives.
• Carry out peer reviews and coordinate with mechanical, controls, manufacturing teams.
• Support procurement and production with technical queries.
