Job summary

RGB, an established employee-owned building services consultancy in Birmingham, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer. Hybrid working is available with permanent, full-time hours.

Salary offers £35,000 to £47,000 depending on experience, with a patient approach to sustainable and practical engineering solutions. The role involves delivering electrical designs across varied projects from concept to post-completion, liaising with clients and design teams, and supporting career progression

Qualifications

• HND or above in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• 3-5 years' experience in Electrical Building Services Design.
• Sound technical knowledge of electrical building services engineering.
• Experience using recognised electrical design and calculation software.
• Ability to manage projects and workloads independently.
• Good understanding of relevant British Standards and industry regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical building services designs across projects from concept through to post-completion.
• Produce electrical drawings, technical reports and specifications.
• Undertake electrical calculations using recognised industry software.
• Work across commercial, industrial, healthcare, leisure, retail, residential, extra care and mixed-use developments.
• Liaise directly with clients and external design teams on technical matters.
• Assist with project management and general design coordination.
• Liaise with suppliers and monitor contractors throughout project delivery.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards, Codes of Practice and applicable regulations.
• Consider sustainable design principles and energy-efficient engineering solutions.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider multidisciplinary team.
