Job summary

Lagan Energy Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to develop safe, efficient electrical solutions for HV/LV systems across renewables and data-centre projects in the UK and Europe. You will prepare and review designs, drawings, calculations, and technical documents, working with project managers, clients, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in a Design Electrical Engineering role or similar.
• Good understanding of HV and LV electrical systems and equipment.
• Knowledge of design software including ETAP, Eplan, AutoCAD, CymCap and Autodesk.
• Multitasking and time-management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience in renewable energy, power generation, utilities, data centres or hyperscale sectors.
• Experience working with DNOs.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards registration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver electrical designs for HV/LV infrastructure across renewable energy and hyperscale projects in the UK and Europe.
• Produce and review electrical design documentation including single-line diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, layouts and drawings.
• Carry out electrical engineering calculations such as cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit, earthing and protection.
• Support development and review of protection and control philosophies for integration across electrical systems.
• Prepare technical specifications and support selection of HV/LV equipment including transformers and switchgear.
• Review client specs and tender documentation to ensure designs meet requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with UK, European and international standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to resolve queries and develop practical solutions.
• Review supplier/subcontractor submissions and provide technical input.
• Provide site support during delivery, testing and commissioning, including addressing technical queries.
• Participate in design reviews and client meetings, communicating design decisions clearly.
• Identify design risks and opportunities for improvement early in projects.
• Support development of internal design standards and document control.
