Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading UK specialist in Wales. You will take full ownership of electrical control system designs from concept through to handover.

You will produce design packs using EPLAN Electric P8 and AutoCAD Electrical, specify components, size cables and protection, and support tendering and project delivery. Collaborative and hands-on, you will ensure compliance and smooth commissioning.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing electrical control systems and control panels for automated equipment or machinery.
• Proficiency with EPLAN Electric P8 and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Strong knowledge of component selection, cable sizing, and circuit protection.
• Experience creating full electrical design packs (schematics, panel layouts, BOMs, cable schedules).
• Ability to generate commissioning test documentation and compliance procedures.
• Practical problem-solving skills for workshop and site-level troubleshooting

Responsibilities

• Electrical Design & Documentation: Produce and maintain design packs using EPLAN Electric P8 and AutoCAD Electrical.
• System Specification: Specify components, size cables and protection devices, and build compliant control system solutions.
• Project & Tender Support: Conduct feasibility assessments, assist with quotations, and resolve technical queries.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with workshop, software, and operations teams to guarantee designs are functional and on schedule.
• Testing & Validation: Create test sheets and validation procedures for factory testing and handover.
• Hands-on Troubleshooting: Provide engineering support during build and installation.
• Standards & Compliance: Ensure designs meet machinery and safety standards.
