Job description

Are you ready to make your mark in the world of Formula 1?

At Formula 1, we are passionate about delivering the world’s greatest sports and entertainment spectacle leaving a positive legacy wherever we race. Innovation has always been at the heart of what we do ever since our first Grand Prix in 1950. Now, more than 75 years on, the sport remains a pioneer, developing technologies that have made a significant impact on society beyond the track.

Everything you see on screen or at an event comes via our passionate and dedicated people. Whether its engineering, broadcast, legal, logistics, security, event management, commercial, media rights, marketing, or communications there is always a talented team working to maximise the potential of the sport.

Role Overview

This is a 2-year Fixed-Term Contract opportunity to join Formula 1’s Race Engineering and Infrastructure team, helping to develop the power systems and electrical infrastructure that underpin Formula 1’s global race operations.

Working behind the scenes of one of the world’s most technologically advanced sports, you will transform operational requirements into innovative electrical solutions, designing everything from temporary power distribution systems and technical service pods to custom switchgear assemblies and UPS‑backed systems. Your work will directly support the infrastructure that enables Formula 1 to operate safely, reliably and efficiently at events across the globe.

From developing initial concepts and detailed schematics through to manufacture, testing and deployment, you will play a key role throughout the entire product lifecycle. Collaborating with Project Engineers, Operations teams, suppliers and manufacturing partners, you’ll help bring new ideas to life while ensuring solutions are practical, compliant and ready to perform in demanding live event environments.

At Formula 1, your designs won’t stay on the drawing board. You’ll play a hands‑on role in developing, refining and delivering electrical solutions that support race operations around the world, turning ideas into real‑world systems that power the infrastructure behind the Formula One World Championship. Whether developing bespoke electrical products, enhancing existing systems or contributing to the next generation of power and infrastructure solutions, you’ll play a part in powering the championship both on and off the track.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design and develop temporary power distribution systems, electrical infrastructure and bespoke power solutions that support Formula 1’s global race operations.
  • Transform operational requirements into practical, manufacturable electrical designs, from initial concepts through to detailed engineering documentation.
  • Produce electrical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring schedules and technical documentation to support manufacture, deployment and maintenance.
  • Develop custom switchgear assemblies, UPS‑backed systems, technical service pods and containerised power solutions.
  • Work closely with Project Engineers, Operations teams, suppliers and manufacturing partners to deliver innovative and reliable electrical solutions.
  • Support design reviews, project delivery and validation activities, ensuring designs are compliant, practical and fit for purpose.
  • Resolve technical queries during manufacturing, build and assembly phases.
  • Support wiring, testing and inspection activities where required.
  • Verify compliance with relevant electrical, safety and industry standards.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of products, processes and engineering solutions across the department.
  • Research emerging technologies and support the development of new electrical products and power distribution solutions.
  • Provide engineering support during on‑site project delivery when required.
