Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join Formula 1's Race Engineering & Infrastructure team as an Electrician. You will play a hands-on role in delivering the electrical systems that power race and broadcast operations globally.

Your responsibilities will include supporting the delivery of electrical systems and overseeing installation while ensuring compliance with safety standards. We are looking for self-motivated individuals with solid electrical installation experience.

Qualifications

  • Industrial and commercial electrical installation experience required.
  • Experience working with temporary power systems within event environments.
  • Experience in electrical testing, installation and maintenance activities.
  • Strong understanding of electrical regulations and equipment specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of electrical systems across the Event Technical Centre.
  • Oversee third-party suppliers for power equipment delivery.
  • Install and monitor electrical distribution equipment and UPS systems.
  • Conduct tests of electrical installations and maintain records.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Support energy transition projects.

Role Overview

Join Formula 1's Race Engineering & Infrastructure team and play a hands‑on role in delivering the electrical systems that power our world‑class race and broadcast operations. Supporting both live event delivery and electrical projects, you will help ensure critical infrastructure is installed, commissioned, maintained and operated safely across some of the most demanding and high‑profile environments in sport.

Working closely with the Event Electrical Manager, internal stakeholders and external suppliers, you will support electrical operations across Formula 1's Event Technical Centre and International Broadcast Compound, helping to deliver reliable power solutions that enable the seamless execution of race weekends around the globe.

The role offers a varied mix of event support, installation work, testing, maintenance and project delivery. From commissioning distribution equipment and UPS systems to conducting inspections and supporting energy transition initiatives, you will contribute to a broad range of activities that are essential to Formula 1's continued success.

You'll also work across wider Race Engineering & Infrastructure projects, supporting the development and improvement of electrical systems while helping to maintain the high standards of performance, compliance and reliability expected throughout the business.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of electrical systems across Formula 1's Event Technical Centre and International Broadcast Compound.

  • Oversee third‑party suppliers responsible for the delivery and installation of power equipment.

  • Install, commission and monitor electrical distribution equipment and UPS systems.

  • Carry out testing of electrical installations and maintain accurate testing records.

  • Provide monitoring and standby support during broadcast operations.

  • Ensure electrical activities are carried out in accordance with health and safety requirements and industry standards.

  • Support the build, maintenance and development of electrical systems used across the wider business.

  • Complete fixed wiring and bespoke installation activities.

  • Interpret and produce basic electrical documentation, including single line diagrams.

  • Carry out maintenance, inspection and portable appliance testing activities.

  • Support electrical compliance, testing and verification processes.

  • Provide delivery support across Event Energy Transition projects.

  • Prepare electrical equipment and consumables for freight and event deployment.

  • Support wider departmental activities, including race cover duties when required.

Experience

Prior To The Role It Would Be Essential That You:

  • Have industrial and commercial electrical installation experience.

  • Have experience working with temporary power systems within event, broadcast or similar operational environments.

  • Have experience carrying out electrical testing, installation and maintenance activities.

  • Be comfortable working across a combination of project work and operational support activities.

  • Have experience working safely within electrical compliance and regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should hold at least one of the following qualifications:

  • Qualified Electrician status (NVQ Level 3, AM2 or equivalent).

  • IET BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.

  • JIB Gold Card.

  • Testing & Inspection 2391-52 qualification.

  • BS7909 Temporary Power qualification.

  • IPAF certification.

  • Forklift licence.

  • Full UK driving licence.

Knowledge & Skills

Prior To The Role It Is Essential That You Demonstrate:

  • A strong understanding of electrical regulations and equipment specifications.

  • Knowledge of critical power systems and UPS technologies.

  • Knowledge of energy monitoring systems.

  • An understanding of relevant UK and EU electrical standards.

  • Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.

  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

Some desirable knowledge and skills that you may bring to the role:
  • Generator commissioning and synchronisation experience.
  • Knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • Experience with PLC, SCADA or HMI systems.
  • The ability to use AutoCAD and electrical design software.
  • Experience supporting temporary power systems within major events or broadcast environments.
  • Experience working with electrical monitoring and control systems.
