Job summary

AJP Recruitment is seeking anElectrical Design Engineer for a leading engineering and project services firm in the North East. You will design electrical systems for marine and offshore projects, write specifications, select components and provide technical support to customers.

Ideal candidates will hold a degree or diploma in electrical engineering, have hands-on experience with power distribution (230V/440VAC), control panels, machine control, and EPLAN Electric P8, along with ISO9001

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Recent experience in a bespoke engineering environment.
• Experience designing power distribution systems (230V & 440VAC).
• Experience in machine control & instrumentation systems and control panel design.
• Knowledge of motor starters or VSD design.
• Experienced with Electrical CAD packages (EPLAN).
• Familiarity with ISO9001 in project-based organisations.
• Experience with marine/offshore applications and relevant safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Electrical design of work packs or projects with minimal supervision.
• Specification writing and parts selection.
• Costing of projects and delivering to time scales and budgets.
• Technical support to customers and commissioning/installation guidance.
• Inspection and Test / FAT writing and documentation.
• Contribute to department standardisation and efficiency initiatives.

Our client is a leading engineering and project services company who provide bespoke solutions across a number of marine and defence related areas. Due to recent projects won they now require an Electrical Design Engineer to join their busy North East office.

The Role

• Electrical Design.
• Specification Writing.
• Specifying of parts.
• Costing of Projects.
• Technical Support to Customers.
• Inspection and Test / FAT writing.
• working on Electrical Department Standardisation and Efficiency Initiatives.
• Undertake the electrical design of work packs or projects with minimal supervision.
• Delivery of complex engineering solutions to agreed time scales and budgets.
• Ability to estimate, forecast, plan and execute to agreed plans.
• Provide technical support and guidance for commissioning and installation activities.

The Person

• Degree or Diploma qualified
• Recent experience of a similar role in a bespoke engineering environment
• Experienced in designing:
• Power distribution systems at both 230V & 440VAC
• Machine control and instrumentation systems
• Control Panel design
• Motor starter or VSD design
• Experienced in Electrical CAD packages.
• Experienced in working to ISO9001 or equivalent in a project based organization
• Eplan Electric P8 experience
• Previous experience within the Marine / Offshore environment
• Working knowledge of DNV GL & Lloyds rules
• Experience of working with Subsea Vehicles including design of High Voltage systems
• Knowledge & experience of relevant functional safety standards (IEC61508, IEC61511, IEC13849)
• Commissioning & Test experience (advantageous)
• A high level of competence with IT systems and tools
