Jackson Hogg Ltd is partnering with a leading renewables company to recruit a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for the Blyth site. The role centers on overseeing electrical system design, installation and commissioning, and providing expert support for offshore projects to industry standards and safety regulations.

You will lead multi-project delivery, mentor engineers, ensure timely and cost-effective outcomes, and maintain rigorous records while advancing asset development within a testing

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering.
  • Degree in engineering discipline required.
  • Chartered Engineer status or active toward chartership.
  • Experience with offshore renewable energy projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical engineering design, development and testing expertise.

Senior Electrical Design Engineer

North East, United Kingdom

Salary range: £45,000-£54,000 basic + benefits

Jackson Hogg is delighted to be working with a leading company specialising in renewable energy solutions, for the assignment of a Senior Electrical Design Engineer.

Purpose of the role
  • To oversee the design, development, installation and commissioning of electrical engineering systems and equipment within the Blyth site.
  • To provide specialist technical support to electrical engineering activities in the delivery of offshore renewable energy related commercial, capital and research projects to industry standards and safety regulations.
  • To support the delivery of asset developments that address future business alignment strategies while upgrading and supporting maintenance of electrical equipment and related sub-systems within test facilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead problem solving for complex engineering issues, processes and projects.
  • Provide electrical engineering expertise for design, development and testing activities.
  • Manage multiple projects with responsibility for time, quality and cost.
  • Maintain project and test records in line with customer and accreditation requirements.
  • Support tenders, budgets, customer engagement and supplier management.
  • Carry out technical reviews and approvals of reports, drawings and procedures.
  • Keep up to date with relevant technologies, standards and engineering best practice.
  • Ensure installations and equipment setups meet required standards.
  • Mentor and support the development of engineers.
  • Present project updates and proposals to stakeholders and clients.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement and asset enhancement.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO9001 and ISO17025 standards.
  • Undertake any additional duties required to support organisational objectives.
Skills & Experience
  • Technical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems including substations, transformers, converters, switchgear and protection.
  • Experience of electrical testing and protection settings.
  • Strong team-working skills in collaborative environments.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical power generation equipment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, instrumentation, electronic and control engineering within renewable energy.
  • Design, installation, testing and commissioning experience.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Simulink and EPLAN.
  • Detailed knowledge of BS7671 installation and testing standards.
Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
