Job summary

A leading life sciences company is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Irlam, England. The role requires expertise in electrical design and a strong understanding of control systems engineering. Job description

Azenta Life Sciences have an opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer with a keen interest in electrical design and product development to join our team based in Irlam, Manchester. The ideal candidate must have experience in electrical design with an understanding of control systems engineering, along with a natural problem‑solving ability.

Working as a member of the team, this role will involve working closely with our customers, some international travel, and a degree of involvement in the development of existing and new product design from initial concept to manufacturing. You will be interested in expanding your knowledge and above all, you’ll thrive on being empowered to find innovative solutions to challenging problems, in a supportive and flexible working environment.

What You'll Be Doin
  • Design electrical hardware, low voltage electrical circuits including Electrical Requirement and Development Specifications for products from concept through release
  • Select and specify sensors, motors, PCBs, wiring harness
  • Work with team members from mechanical design, production and supply chain to introduce new products and product variations
  • Develop and maintain Electrical panel schematics, controls, and systems schematics for large equipment
  • May contribute to total system engineering
  • May be involved in all phases of design and development from initial concept to manufacturing
  • Conduct experimental tests on equipment and evaluate results
  • May also review vendors’ abilities to support development
  • Depending on level, may function as a project engineer with the resident responsibilities of proposals, technical presentations, cross‑functional issue resolution, etc
  • Expected to keep up to date on technical advances in the discipline and related fields
