Job summary

CIBSE Journal is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join its project engineering team in Hull. The role focuses on the electrical design element of multi-disciplinary projects, progressing control systems from initial philosophy through detailed design and manufacture.

You will produce electrical drawings and schematics, specify components and create BOMs, review certification, and support projects through manufacture and close-out.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience designing electrical control systems for industrial applications.
• Bespoke HVAC or engineered mechanical systems experience preferred.
• Strong capability in control panels, schematics and production drawings.
• Experience using AutoCAD or similar electrical design software.
• Ability to interpret customer specifications and UK/international standards.
• Experience producing BOMs and technical/manufacturing documentation.
• Electrical engineering qualification Level 3/4 or equivalent.
• Exposure to Ex/hazardous-area project documentation beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD.

Job description

An established specialist engineering manufacturer delivering bespoke HVAC and engineered systems for industrial applications is looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join its project engineering team. The role will take responsibility for the electrical design element of multi-disciplinary projects, progressing control systems from initial operational philosophy through detailed design and manufacture. Responsibilities will include producing electrical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD, specifying components, creating BOMs, preparing production and project documentation, reviewing certification and supporting projects through manufacture and close-out. There will also be regular liaison with mechanical design, manufacturing, suppliers and customers, with occasional project-related travel.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience designing electrical control systems for industrial applications
• Ideally experience within bespoke HVAC, ventilation, air handling or other engineered mechanical systems
• Strong electrical design capability, including control panels, schematics, component selection and production drawings
• Experience using AutoCAD or similar electrical design software
• Able to interpret customer specifications and design in accordance with relevant UK / international standards
• Experience producing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical / manufacturing documentation
• Relevant electrical engineering qualification, ideally Level 3 / Level 4 or equivalent
• PLC software design / programming experience advantageous but not essential
• Exposure to Ex / hazardous-area project documentation would be beneficial
