Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Reports to: Design Manager
Based at: Cookstown
Job Purpose
To work as part of a manufacturing team, designing and developing a range of motor control & power distribution panels to clients' specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret client requirements during the design phase of projects.
- Prepare detailed electrical design and general arrangement drawings for manufacturing motor control & power distribution panels.
- Ensure compliance with relevant specifications, standards, and safety regulations throughout project development.
- Prepare bills of materials for procurement.
- Develop documentation for testing, inspection, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Assist in the preparation of tenders.
- Participate in design and process reviews for products.
- Engage in problem-solving and brainstorming individually and as part of the design team.
- Maintain and update electronic files using document management software.
- Liaise with clients and build effective relationships.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in UK and European legislation.
- Stay informed about technological advances and new products.
- Develop personal skills through ongoing training.
- Undertake other duties as appropriate to the role.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications / Knowledge
- Ideally hold an electrical engineering qualification; relevant design experience in switchgear, automation, and electrical control systems will be considered.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- UK Driver’s License, access to transport, and willingness to travel within the UK and Ireland.
Desirable Knowledge
- Knowledge of electrical design software packages.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of electrical experience or relevant qualification.
- Experience in designing electrical control systems.
- Experience with EPlan & AutoCAD.
- Previous experience in the water industry is a plus.
Skills and Abilities
- Logical problem-solving aptitude.
- Ability to learn new technologies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Understanding of engineering drawings.
- Project management skills are desirable.
