Job summary

Automation Experts in Norfolk seeks an Electrical Design & Control Engineer to take ownership of automation projects from design through to commissioning. You will produce electrical schematics, LV switchgear layouts and control panel designs using EPLAN and AutoCAD, and support PLC/HMI programming.

The role offers training, progression and a 40-hour week with flexitime, plus an opportunity to work on diverse industrial automation projects across the UK.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in industrial automation, controls and electrical design.
• Strong EPLAN and AutoCAD experience.
• PLC/HMI programming advantageous; training available.
• Galaxy 3/Cubic software experience would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of pneumatic systems and LV switchgear.
• Strong communication, organisation and project management skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the UK.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from initial enquiry through to design, build and commissioning.
• Produce electrical schematics, control panel layouts and LV switchgear designs using EPLAN and AutoCAD.
• Prepare FDS documents, quotations, estimates and technical documentation.
• Develop hardware solutions to UKCA and CE standards; UL 508A knowledge would be advantageous.
• Support PLC/HMI programming, FAT, commissioning and fault-finding.
• Develop build documentation for volume-manufactured products.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams throughout projects.
• Provide post-installation and call-out support alongside general project engineering duties.
