Opportunity

We are offering a 12-month fixed-term contract for an Electrical Craftsperson based in Totnes. The salary range is £34,368 - £40,729 per annum, with standby allowances, call-out, and overtime payments. Benefits include a company van, 37-hour work week, and 1 in 4 Fridays off.

Role Overview

As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Craftsperson), you will fault-find, repair, and maintain assets across operational sites for both Drinking Water and Waste Water services. You will perform planned maintenance, support asset preservation, and recommend improvements to stakeholders, ensuring high standards of service, safety, and compliance.

Responsibilities
  1. Deliver quality support using your expertise in electrical, control, and process systems.
  2. Carry out repairs and maintenance, diagnose faults on electrical and control systems.
  3. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  4. Communicate effectively with affected staff.
  5. Update engineering documentation to support operational activities.
  6. Support internal customers aligned with our values of trust, responsibility, collaboration, and progress.
  7. Plan and prioritize work to meet maintenance and operational requirements.
  8. Adhere to ISO, H&S policies and procedures.
  9. Engage in ongoing training for technical skills and safety awareness.
  10. Follow business rules for maintenance activities.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • 5 GCSEs including Maths, English, Science (grade C or above).
  • Relevant apprenticeship or formal qualifications (City and Guilds, BTEC, ONC/HNC/HND).
  • Compliance with IEE 18th Edition regs.
  • Experience with fault finding & 3-phase electrical systems.
  • Full UK driving license.

Desirable:

  • City & Guilds Inspect and Test 2391-10.
  • Industrial/Commercial experience.
  • Experience with VSDs, soft starts, motor control systems.
  • Understanding wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of risk assessments and RAMS.
  • Good LV systems knowledge (415vac to 24vac, DC control).
