Job summary

Talentometry is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join a dynamic system integration team. You will design and build bespoke control systems and instrument racks for regulated industries, delivering turnkey solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Using EPLAN to capture electrical designs, you will select hardware to match customer specifications and guide on-site installation, testing and commissioning across UK sites, including travel.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• Strong practical background designing electrical/electronic systems.
• Experience with EPLAN or similar schematic tools (AutoCAD Electrical / SolidWorks Electrical).
• Knowledge of CE/UKCA marking and safety directives is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Accurately capture and develop comprehensive electrical designs using EPLAN in a timely manner.
• Select control and measurement hardware based on customer specifications.
• Hands-on building, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems in workshop and on-site.
• Generate robust technical documentation including test plans and commissioning packs.
• Ensure designs meet IEC, ATEX, and machinery safety requirements.

Job description

We are partnering with a dynamic and innovative system integration business to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer. This company is highly regarded for developing cutting‑edge, automated data acquisition, test, measurement, and control systems for a diverse range of industries including aerospace, energy, and healthcare.

Joining the system integration team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and build of bespoke control systems and instrument racks. The role provides an opportunity to deliver turnkey solutions in a fast‑paced environment, working closely with software, systems, and project teams to ensure technical excellence, robust compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Key Requirements

Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.

Knowledge.

Knowledge of CE/UKCA marking and relevant safety directives (e.g., IEC 60204, BS EN 61010, BS EN 61508) is highly beneficial.

Experience.

Strong practical background backed by the ability to design electrical and electronic systems.

Extensive experience with EPLAN (or alternative schematic tools like AutoCAD Electrical / SolidWorks Electrical) is essential.

This role involves travelling up to 50% of the year. Proven hands‑on experience in the on‑site installation, debugging, and commissioning of electrical systems.

Familiarity with mainstream PLCs (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley) or National Instruments (NI) hardware platforms.

Capabilities.

The Role

• Accurately capture and develop comprehensive electrical designs using EPlan in a timely manner.
• Select the correct control and measurement hardware based on stringent customer specifications.
• Take a hands‑on approach to building, testing, and commissioning electrical systems in the workshop and on‑site.
• Provide guidance on the installation and working functionality of software and hardware, including configuration settings.
• Generate robust technical documentation, including test plans, commissioning documents, and technical packs.
• Ensure all designs meet relevant standards, including IEC, ATEX, and machinery safety requirements.
• Troubleshoot problems and incompatibilities across both software and hardware, applying a practical understanding of EMC principles.
• Work alongside the business development team to develop proofs of concept and technical quotations.
