Electrical Control & Instrumentation Project Engineer

The role will involve:

  • Ownership and responsibility for all assigned work
  • Defining fit-for-purpose engineering solutions
  • Delivering budgets, schedules, detailed designs, specifications, commissioning, training, and documentation for projects
  • Supporting project managers with program and budget definitions
  • Monitoring and reporting project performance and managing changes
  • Ensuring compliance with company and client processes
  • Supporting project execution safely, within specifications, budget, and schedule
  • Promoting safety, best practices, innovation, and continual improvement
  • Developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships
  • Updating knowledge to meet industry and client requirements
  • Striving for efficient delivery through initiatives like “right first time” and “fit for purpose”
  • Effective communication and cooperation with all parties
Key Responsibilities:

Preparing project scope, costs, and schedules; supporting program development; conducting risk assessments; liaising with construction teams; coordinating design activities; managing procurement and technical approvals; supporting construction and commissioning; managing project documentation; overseeing project handover and completion; reporting key indicators; ensuring quality, schedule, and budget adherence; maintaining technical competence; contributing proactively to project success.

Key Requirements:
  • Degree/HND in Control, Instrumentation, or Electrical Engineering
  • Level 4 Project Control/Management Qualification
  • Relevant safety and regulatory certifications (CompEx, IEC61508, BS7671, etc.)
  • Minimum 5 years recent experience in a similar role
  • Experience in a COMAH Tier 1 environment, including shutdowns, outages, and project management
  • Knowledge of safety standards, control systems, procurement, and engineering disciplines
  • Strong PC skills and project management capabilities
