Job summary

Veolia Environmental Services (UK) Plc is seeking an EICA engineer to manage electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation on water treatment projects in the UK. The role covers MCCs, switchgear, software control, HMI, and process instrumentation across municipal and industrial water sectors.

The position requires a degree in Electrical Engineering or extensive practical experience, BS7671 knowledge, and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in UK water industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of BS7671 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations.
  • Strong communication and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead EICA design and commissioning on water projects.
  • Procure MCCs, cabling, and instrumentation.
  • Develop load and instrument schedules.
  • Create URS after process design input.
  • Review subcontractor drawings and specs.
  • Perform FATs and electrical tests.
  • Visit sites for client meetings and supervision.
  • Report progress against budget and schedule.

Job description

You will be responsible for all EICA (Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation) aspects on water treatment projects. This includes low voltage switchgear & motor control centres, electrical installation, software control systems, operator interfaces and process instrumentation. Projects are typically within municipal and industrial water industry in the UK.

  • Technical aspects for procurement of MCC, cabling, systems integration, process instrumentation, and electrical equipment
  • Produce load & instrument schedules, equipment specifications
  • Develop software user requirements specifications (URS) following process design consultation
  • Review sub-contractor drawings and specifications against client & VWT specifications
  • Conduct detailed technical bid evaluations of quotations
  • Conduct FATs for switchboard, MCC and PLC/HMI software
  • Conduct inspections & tests for electrical equipment
  • Responsible for EICA design aspects of installation & commissioning
  • Visit sites for client meetings and occasional installation supervision
  • Provide assistance to tendering department in all EICA aspects
  • Report internally on EICA aspects against budget and programme
  • Ensure all activities are carried out safely and in line with QA procedures
  • Degree in technical/engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering preferred) or extensive practical experience
  • Experience of similar role in UK water industry
  • Application of BS7671 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations
  • Strong communication skills for interfacing with colleagues, suppliers, project managers, and customers
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Google)
  • Flexible working approach to deal with potential problems
  • Organisational skills for prioritising tasks
  • Health & safety awareness
