Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Electrical Contract Engineering Lead to act as the engineering lead within EPR-E for one or more electrical equipment contracts supporting the Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C programmes. You will coordinate design and qualification packages, supervise supplier documentation and ensure deliverables meet quality and schedule requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Engineering Lead for assigned electrical equipment contracts, delivering design and qualification packages.
  • Lead the technical review of supplier documentation and oversee reviews for quality and consistency.
  • Coordinate input from EPR-E technical specialists to align with contract design and qualification programmes.
  • Monitor progress, risks and technical issues across contracts.
  • Plan and participate in weekly/monthly progress meetings and report to management.

Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. The Electrical Contract Engineering Lead will act as the engineering lead within EPR-E for one or more electrical equipment contracts supporting the Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) programmes.


The role is responsible for coordinating and managing the delivery of the associated design and qualification packages, providing engineering oversight of supplier activities and ensuring technical deliverables are progressed to the required quality, programme and engineering standards.


The Contract Engineering Lead operates with a high degree of autonomy, coordinating technical specialists and acting as a key interface between EPR-E, NNB equipment programme teams and other engineering stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as Engineering Lead for assigned electrical equipment contracts, with overall accountability for delivery of the associated design and qualification package.
  • Lead the technical review of supplier documentation, including management of document review workflows and oversight of the quality and consistency of reviews completed by other technical specialists.
  • Undertake technical reviews directly where appropriate.
  • Coordinate input from EPR-E technical specialists, ensuring that specialist activities support the wider contract design and qualification programme.
  • Monitor engineering progress, risks and emerging technical issues across assigned contracts.
  • Provide regular progress and issue reporting to the NNB Project Manager and EPR-E management team.
  • Liaise with the NNB Equipment Programme and other engineering stakeholders to resolve design and qualification matters.
  • Participate in contract-specific weekly and monthly progress meetings.
  • Represent assigned contracts during the weekly EGD team meeting and provide updates to EPR-E management.
  • Plan, coordinate and complete engineering surveillance activities.
  • Produce the annual surveillance summary report.
  • Maintain, review and update the Contract Surveillance Programme.
  • Identify issues requiring escalation and coordinate resolution through senior management, technical authorities or company experts where required
Qualifications Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent qualification, in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience working as an electrical engineer within industrial applications
  • Experience of industrial electrical power distribution systems
  • Experience working within a highly regulated or safety-critical engineering environment
  • Experience reviewing and assuring technical engineering documentation
  • Ability to coordinate technical activities and inputs from multiple engineering specialists
  • Experience managing technical interfaces and stakeholders across complex organisations
  • Ability to operate independently, prioritise workload and progress technical issues with limited supervision

Previous nuclear industry experience is not essential. Relevant transferable experience could include industries such as:
Oil and gas, conventional or renewable power generation, aerospace, defence and any other safety-critical or heavily regulated engineering sectors.
