Amentum is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to support the HPC site, guiding the development and delivery of industrial safety arrangements during commissioning. You will promote a safety culture, liaise with construction safety teams, and help transition from construction to operation.

The role requires NEBOSH or equivalent, IOSH membership, and at least six years in OH&S management within industrial settings. Nuclear experience is highly valued, with a focus on ISMS and emergency readiness.

Formación

• Hold an appropriate qualification e.g., H&S Diploma (NEBOSH) and current membership of IOSH.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in OH&S Management with responsibility for developing, implementing and maintaining safety management systems within an industrial or similar setting.
• Detailed understanding of OH&S Safety Legislation (e.g. HSWA 1974, MHSWR, PUWER, LOLER) and codes of practice and the ability to interpret applicability to a range of operating conditions.
• Experience carrying out and reviewing Risk Assessments (RAs) within a range of different operating environments.
• Experience of working in a high hazard industry such as nuclear, oil & gas, chemical, manufacturing.

• Providing input to training to ensure site staff are trained on fire protection topics.
• Developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with HPC construction site and Nuclear Generation industrial safety teams.
• Assisting in development and implementation of emergency preparedness and response arrangements.
• Coordinating the delivery of statutory assessments with cross-functional input from relevant teams.
• Support the creation of an industrial safety culture for the CommOps Organisation.

About the Opportunity

Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. Amentum are currently recruiting a Health & Safety Advisor who will support the development and delivery of the industrial safety arrangements for the Hinkley Point C operational site. They will help establish and promote the safety culture for the commissioning phase of HPC. The position also includes liaison with the construction safety teams to ensure a smooth transition from construction to operational industrial safety arrangements.

Key Responsibilitie s

• Developing industrial safety management system processes comprising the CommOps Industrial Safety Management System (ISMS)

• Participating in the development of the industrial safety training programme comprising of topic specific training

• Providing subject matter input to the training team to ensure that the organisation for the operational site is adequately trained on fire protection topics and processes

• Developing and maintaining an effective collaborative working relationship with the HPC construction site and Nuclear Generation industrial safety teams

• Assisting in the development and implementation of emergency preparedness and response arrangements

• Coordinating the delivery of statutory assessments with cross functional input from relevent teams

• Support the creation an industrial safety culture for the CommOps Organisation
