Job summary

Amentum invites skilled Piping Engineers to join the MEH Alliance on the HPC project across the UK. The Piping Engineer - Completion Lead delivers Mechanical & Piping Construction Work packs to support on-site engineering delivery and leads a matrixed team of engineers.

You will work under schedule pressure to unblock technical issues, ensuring safe, timely completion within budget while coordinating with the Installation Contract Engineering Lead and the Construction Engineering Manager.

The Piping Engineer - Completion Lead

will deliver Mechanical & Piping Construction Work packs to support the MEH Alliance programme.

Key Responsibilities

• The MEH programme has commenced bulk installation on site since the start of 2024, whereas previously the focus has been on securing the design and manufacturing. As such the spotlight will fall on the construction leads for the engineering delivery of the site scope;
• The Piping Completions Lead reports functionally to the “Piping Construction Engineering Manager”
• The current Piping Construction Engineering team size is 19 engineers; however, it also involves operational leadership of a matrixed team;
• As this is a front-line site delivery role, there is a necessity to work with flexibility and be able to work under the time pressure of the schedule in order to unblock technical issues to allow continuity of work by the installation teams.
• The Piping Completion Lead works closely with the installation Contract Engineering Lead and both reports to the Construction Engineering Manager who is part of a wider of team of Leaders delivering the E2E life cycle of the piping scope. Delivery of the upstream engineering sequence is outside the scope of the Construction Engineering team, however they should ensure integration with the other areas of the team and other disciplines.
• The Piping Completion Lead has counterparts across the other disciplines in MEH engineering, who perform equivalent roles for the other disciplines of MEH.
• The Piping Completion Lead will have delegation to perform decision making on site within a defined boundary to allow efficient and quick resolution of topics.

Education, Experience and Skills:

• Proven experience working in an equivalent / related role related to pressure test and completion activities;
• Meticulous and rigorous approach to engineering to achieve high professional standards;
• Proven ability to successfully deliver engineering safely to the correct quality, time and cost in a fast paced, schedule driven environment;
• Strong people leadership skills to coordinate efficient delivery of their scope through empowerment of their team members and drawing on the necessary support from others in the organisation;
• Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders;
• Ability to work autonomously but with awareness of own limitations;
• Knowledge of contractual and commercial mechanisms.
