What does it take to be an Electrical Asset Technician?

You will have completed an apprenticeship and relevant electrical qualification.

Your ability to learn quickly and use your own initiative to solve problems is essential for this role. You will train alongside an experienced Technician to ensure you gain all the skills and knowledge required.

In addition to carrying out planned & reactive maintenance on electrical assets, you will work towards a Licence to Operate Qualification to enable operation and maintenance of water treatment assets and processes.

Key responsibilities:

You’ll be responsible for wiring, installing, maintaining, and controlling a diverse range of electrical equipment necessary to treat and distribute water. This includes:

  • Calibrating and maintaining technical analytical equipment to meet water quality standards
  • Proactively investigating asset trends and carrying out electrical interventions
  • Managing and assisting electrical framework contractors and internal high voltage, optimisation, and automation teams
  • Utilising electrical drawings and extensive electrical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Liaising with team members to respond to technical issues and maintain water supply

Stand-by and overtime

You’ll need a flexible approach to working hours as you will participate in a standby rota. To undertake standby duties, you must live within the area specified in the job posting.

Stand-by typically involves at least one day per week, attracting additional standby payments for availability. In case of a call-out, overtime payments are applicable at time and a half before midnight and double time after midnight.
