Job summary

SVC Technical in Braintree is seeking an Electrical Fitter/Control Panel Builder (Supervisor) for a hands-on, workshop-based role. You will lead a small team assembling, wiring, and testing low-voltage panels from engineering drawings.

The ideal candidate has LV panel experience, reads schematics, and embraces high safety and quality standards. This permanent, full-time post offers Friday early finish and on-site parking.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Panel Wireperson, Electrical Fitter, or LV Panel Builder
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Electrical Engineering
• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics
• Good attention to detail and high workmanship standards

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings, and BOMs
• Assemble and wire LV distribution panels, control panels and sub-assemblies
• Cut, strip, crimp, label and terminate cables
• Install trunking, cable looms, terminals, busbars, breakers, contactors, relays, meters and sockets
• Carry out basic electrical testing (continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing)
• Identify and report drawing errors or missing components
• Work to production schedules and maintain a clean, safe workshop

Job Description

As a Electrical Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading a small team assembling, wiring, and testing low-voltage electrical distribution panels, working from engineering drawings and specifications. You'll be part of a supportive team working to high safety and quality standards.

Key Duties

• Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings, and BOMs
• Assembling and wiring LV distribution panels, control panels, and sub-assemblies
• Cutting, stripping, crimping, labelling, and terminating cables
• Installing trunking, cable looms, terminals, busbars, breakers, contactors, relays, meters, and sockets
• Carrying out basic electrical testing (continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing)
• Identifying and reporting drawing errors, missing components, or build issues
• Working to production schedules and deadlines
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Panel Wireperson, Electrical Fitter, or LV Panel Builder
• Previous team lead/supervisory experience
• Experience working with low-voltage (400VAC) distribution panels
• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics
• Good attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
• Knowledge of BS EN 61439, BS 7671, and switchgear up to 630A is desirable
