Job summary

Wessex Water Services in Poole offers an apprenticeship to become a Safety, Health, and Environment Technician. You will gain a Level 3 qualification while supporting the Health and Safety team across water and wastewater operations.

The role provides practical experience at treatment works, pumping stations, laboratories and sites, carrying out inspections, risk assessments and incident reporting, and working toward a recognised health and safety qualification through Compass Training.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organise and prioritise workload.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Desirable: basic understanding of workplace health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Support health and safety policies and culture across multiple sites.
• Identify and manage workplace hazards and risks.
• Develop effective communication and presentation skills.
• Understand financial implications of health and safety decisions.
• Research legislation and best practice in health and safety.
• Conduct inspections and incident investigations.
• Engage stakeholders and provide signposting as needed.
