Job summary

Herbert Parkinson, part of the John Lewis Partnership, is seeking an HSE Assistant to support Environmental, Health and Safety standards on site at Darwen. You will maintain HS&E documentation, support audits, and champion a proactive safety culture.

The role is permanent, 38.75 hours per week, with a night premium of £4.25 per hour for night hours. Closing date: 5 November 2026. Location: Harvest Mill, Darwen, Lancashire.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in an EHS role.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent certification (or working towards).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional organisational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of HS&E legislative requirements and industry developments.
• Conduct regular branch checks to ensure HS&E policies are followed.
• Ensure documentation aligns with templates and ISO standards.
• Review risk assessments and take action to reduce risk.
• Support HS&E initiatives through onsite representatives.
• Ensure reporting for Near Misses, Accidents, and RIDDORs.
