Job summary

Sandwell Council is seeking a committed Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) Officer to join the Inclusive Learning Service within Children & Education Services. You will coordinate Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments and maintain high-quality EHCPs to meet statutory duties.

Qualifications

• Educated to A Level, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent, or substantial relevant experience.
• GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Minimum of three years' experience in an education-related environment with families, health and social care professionals.
• Experience leading or facilitating multi-agency meetings.
• Knowledge of SEND legislation, Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with wide stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage SEND assessments for children and young people aged 0 to 25.
• Act as a named keyworker for children, young people and their families.
• Develop and maintain high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Chair and facilitate planning meetings and annual reviews as required.
• Work with schools, health professionals and partner agencies to ensure statutory deadlines are met.
• Analyse complex information to support decision-making and present cases to panels.
