Job summary

Jackie Kerr Recruitment seeks an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Manager for a precision engineering/manufacturing site in the UK. You will develop and maintain proactive HSE culture, ensure compliance with UK legislation, and lead continuous improvement across safety and environmental systems.

You will chair committees, deliver inductions and training, manage ISO 14001/45001 frameworks, and drive waste reduction, energy efficiency and safe working practices across the business.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or NVQ Level 6 in OH&S.
• CertIOSH or CMIOSH.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in precision engineering, manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience with CNC machinery, fabrication and engineering processes.
• IEMA environmental qualification desirable; Lead Auditor ISO 45001 desirable.
• Laser Safety Officer training desirable; ISO 9001/14001/45001 experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and improve the Health & Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and best practice.
• Provide Health & Safety advice and guidance to directors, managers and employees.
• Monitor changes to legislation and ensure policies remain compliant.
• Lead and chair Health & Safety Committee meetings, tracking actions to completion.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses; identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Plan and deliver Health & Safety inductions, training and awareness programmes.
• Develop Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001.
• Lead environmental improvement initiatives including waste reduction and energy efficiency.
• Monitor compliance with environmental legislation, permits and requirements.
• Promote safe working practices and company standards across the business.
• Support continuous improvement across Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality processes.
• Ensure environmental procedures are maintained, including waste management.
