Are you an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental professional looking for your next challenge within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment?
We are currently recruiting for an EH&S Manager to take responsibility for developing and maintaining a proactive Health, Safety and Environmental culture across the business.
Health, Safety & Environmental Manager Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement and continually improve the Health & Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and industry best practice
- Provide Health & Safety advice and guidance to directors, managers and employees
- Monitor changes to Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and ensure policies and procedures remain compliant
- Lead and chair Health & Safety Committee meetings, monitoring actions through to completion
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventative actions
- Plan and deliver Health & Safety inductions, training and awareness programmes
- Develop and maintain the Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001
- Lead environmental improvement initiatives including waste reduction, recycling, energy efficiency and pollution prevention
- Monitor compliance with environmental legislation, permits and other relevant requirements
- Promote safe working practices and company standards across the business
- Support continuous improvement across Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality processes
- Ensure environmental procedures are maintained, including the management of scrap, controlled and special waste
- Identify opportunities for improvement and support their implementation
Health, Safety & Environmental Ideal Candidate:
- NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or NVQ Level 6 in Occupational Health & Safety
- CertIOSH or CMIOSH
- Minimum 5 years' experience within precision engineering, manufacturing or heavy industry
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
- Experience working with CNC machinery, fabrication and engineering processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
- Environmental qualification such as IEMA – Desirable
- Lead Auditor qualification for ISO 45001 – Desirable
- Laser Safety Officer training – Desirable
- Experience working with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems – Desirable
Health, Safety & Environmental Working Hours and Benefits:
- 37.5 hours over a 4-day week – Monday to Thursday
