Job summary

NT Engineering & Manufacturing in East Kilbride is seeking an Engineering Shift Lead to lead the day-to-day on the shift while remaining hands-on and coaching the wider engineering team.

You will manage PPM schedules, triage breakdowns, drive the development of direct reports, and capture shift activity in the CMMS. You’ll contribute to continuous improvement while upholding GMP and site safety on site throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• Apprentice trained, qualified multi-skilled engineer (mechanical/electrical), City & Guilds minimum.
• Proven track record of front-line people management within an FMCG environment.
• Strong understanding of PPM techniques and legislative standards within FMCG.
• Numerate, analytical and a proactive approach to problem solving.
• A genuine desire to coach and develop team performance.

Responsibilities

• Managing week-ahead and day-to-day planned predictive maintenance schedules to maximise reliability.
• Triaging in-day breakdowns and work requests, assigning priority and resources to keep production downtime to 2% or below.
• Acting as coach and technical liaison for the wider engineering team, advising on fault-finding strategies and troubleshooting approach.
• Managing direct reports, driving their development and feeding into succession planning.
• Ensuring all shift activity is accurately captured in the site CMMS.
• Getting involved in continuous improvement projects across the site.
• Upholding GMP and site safety standards across all engineering areas.

Engineering Shift Lead | East Kilbride

A well established, multi-site manufacturer is looking for an Engineering Shift Lead to join their engineering team at their East Kilbride site. This is a great step-up opportunity for an experienced engineer ready to move into a leadership role, roughly 60/40 split between leading the shift day to day and coaching/developing the wider engineering team, so you'll stay hands-on while building your management experience.
