Introduction

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced First Team Sport Scientist to join our Medical Department on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is pivotal in enhancing our athletic development program, advancing sport science to improve performance, prevent injuries, and support physiotherapists in player rehabilitation.

Role & Responsibilities

1. Oversee and advance the delivery of Sport Science across the Club.
2. Monitor and report training load using GPS, heart rate, wellbeing, and performance testing.
3. Assist in rehabilitation and conditioning of players with long-term injuries and support physical performance sessions.
4. Develop and implement a return-to-play checklist and promote best practices in data management.
5. Coordinate with the first team manager and coaches on training schedules.
6. Support training and match days, mentor interns, and collaborate with local universities.
7. Work on Sport Science and Strength & Conditioning initiatives to support club goals.

Candidate Profile

• Experience within professional football and managing large groups of players preferred.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
• Degree in Sports Science and/or Strength & Conditioning (MSc preferred).
• Knowledge of GPS Systems within football (e.g., STATSports).
• Experience designing and monitoring programs for elite athletes.
• Excellent communication skills, enthusiastic, open-minded, and a critical thinker.
