Job description

The Vacancy


Watertrain, part of RSK Group, is currently recruiting for a Wastewater Networks Learning & Development Coach to join their team in a permanent, full-time position.


This position involves delivering the Level 3 wastewater networks technician apprenticeship to learners, aligned with the Water Industry Network Technician / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education standards.


Watertrain specializes in delivering apprenticeships and qualifications to the water utility sector, and this is an exciting time to join their growing team.


We are looking for individuals to teach the knowledge components of the program to small groups in classroom settings, as well as conduct one-to-one coaching and competency assessments on-site with learners.


Key responsibilities:

  1. Plan, coordinate, assess, and review learning activities with workplace learners.
  2. Deliver classroom-based training to groups of up to 12 learners.
  3. Conduct training and assessments on skills and competencies, both on and off-site, tailored to employer needs.
  4. Provide training and assessment in relevant disciplines for a range of learners, including new entrants and upskilling candidates.
  5. Manage a caseload of learners, ensuring timely completion within set timescales.
  6. Work with employers and learners at the start to develop Individual Learning Plans with clear milestones and targets.
  7. Monitor learners' progress, ensuring reviews are conducted at least every 12 weeks.
  8. Track and record vocational progress, report concerns, and take necessary actions.
  9. Participate in assessment and quality assurance procedures, including internal quality assurance.
  10. Contribute to program reviews and evaluations for continuous improvement.
  11. Provide feedback on learners' work, including marking and guidance.
  12. Assess and monitor portfolios, ensuring deadlines are met.
  13. Complete assessment documentation in accordance with standards.
  14. Adhere to quality assurance procedures of internal and external bodies.
  15. Maintain subject knowledge and participate in staff development activities.
  16. Follow safeguarding procedures to ensure learner safety and understanding.

Person Specification:

  1. Experience in wastewater networks, with supervisory or management experience preferred.
  2. Confidence in knowledge and a passion for supporting others' careers.
  3. Strong IT and communication skills, and a team player attitude.
  4. Willingness to travel and work on client sites.
  5. Interest in working for the UK's leading water sector training provider.
