Job description

The successful candidate will be an autonomous practitioner, responsible for providing care throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods for women and babies in hospital and community settings.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assess, plan, and implement care for both high and low-risk women.
2. Support, supervise, and teach staff and students in evidence-based, client-centered care, ensuring all care aligns with Trust policies and procedures, and maintain accurate records.
3. Promote individualised and high standards of care and birth experiences, embodying our passionate philosophy.
4. Provide holistic, individualised care in the Eden Suite Birth Centre, which includes five birthing rooms, two with en-suite pools, and additional facilities for high-risk women.
5. Work within the community setting, including homebirth services staffed by the Highfield Team.
6. Communicate effectively with team members, women, families, and other health professionals.
7. Support women and families by communicating complex information clearly and supportively.
8. Counsel and support women through pregnancy, explaining their options in midwifery care.
9. Assist women requiring specialist investigations and provide antenatal screening advice and counseling.
10. Maintain effective communication within the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care.
11. Convey information to women in a timely and understandable manner, utilizing various communication methods.
12. Plan and manage care for women, including antenatal and postnatal clinics, home visits, home births, and births in obstetric and midwifery-led units.
