The Trust is looking to recruit a 6-month fixed term Locum Consultant Neurologist to be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) site to ensure that patients have access to high quality Neurology services locally in a timely manner.

Applicants must be included on the GMC Specialist Register for Neurology or be within six months of obtaining their CCT at the date of interview. The successful applicant will provide a comprehensive high-quality outpatient Neurology service.

Main duties of the job

The Trust is looking to recruit a 6-month fixed term Locum Consultant Neurologist to be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) site to ensure that patients have access to high quality Neurology services locally in a timely manner.

The job will consist of (but not restricted to):

  • 3 weekly Neurology OPD clinics + Admin
  • SPA

    Clinical Responsibilities

  • A full-time post-holder would be expected to undertake 3 neurology clinics each week (4 hours each). We would encourage colleagues to develop specialty clinics, provided that they are of clinical relevance to the service and local needs
  • There is a commitment to adequate levels of secretarial cover on each site. Consultants are provided with sufficient office space and IT support
  • There is currently no on-call commitment
  • Medical Education & Teaching

    Candidates are expected to contribute to departmental educational meetings and clinical supervision of doctors in training

    Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance

    Undertake or supervise clinical audit and comply with Clinical Governance requirements

  • Participate in continuing professional development at local and national level
  • Implement audit and research findings as appropriate in clinical practice:
  • Prepare and participate in an annual appraisal in accordance with Trust policy, in line with the Trusts commitment to supporting revalidation

  • The Trust is committed to providing mentoring to newly appointed consultants
