Director of Services

We are seeking an experienced Director of Services to join our Senior Management Team, providing strategic leadership and deputising for the CEO as needed.

You will oversee the charity's client-facing service delivery operations, including Information, Advice and Advocacy, and Hospital and Community support services.

Position Details
  • Location: Hayes, London
  • Salary: £55,000 per annum
  • Hours: Full-time - 35 hours per week
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Benefits: Flexible and hybrid working, compressed hours, job share/part-time options, training, 5% pension, health plan, 24-hour support, 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, London Living Wage employer

About the Role

As Director of Services, you will manage services including Hospital support (A&E, discharge, falls prevention), community activities (groups, befriending), and information services (benefits, housing, advocacy). You will ensure contractual and grant targets are met, maintaining high-quality standards with impact measurement and feedback systems.

You will be a key member of our SMT, contributing to our 5-year strategy, business planning, and budget processes. You will manage external partnerships and influence local health and social care agendas, working with a skilled team in a positive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide strategic leadership and contribute to organisational planning.
  2. Identify development opportunities to improve services for older people.
  3. Manage and develop staff, setting targets and monitoring performance.
  4. Ensure staff and volunteers are informed about policy changes and best practices.
  5. Develop feedback systems from service users to inform organisational culture.
  6. Ensure data quality for performance management and reporting.
  7. Collaborate on budgets and ensure services are delivered within financial plans.
  8. Work with partners and funders to meet service requirements on time and budget.
Candidate Profile

Successful candidates will operate effectively in dynamic environments, with proven leadership in managing teams, change, and business processes aligned with our strategy. Essential skills include:

  • Degree-level education or equivalent senior management experience
  • Inspirational leadership of teams and volunteers
  • Experience managing projects and time effectively
  • Knowledge of health and social care services and influence in this sector
  • Experience in designing and implementing new or remodelled services
  • Understanding of voluntary sector practices and user involvement
  • Knowledge of local health and social care structures
  • Excellent communication skills
