Where you fit in

This is a great opportunity to join the Customer Operations team as a Credit Controller for our industrial, commercial, small, and micro business customers. Reporting to the Cash and Collections Manager, you will support our goal to improve bad debt exposure and achieve collection targets.

What’s the role?

As Credit Controller, your responsibilities include:

  1. Maximising collections performance through high-volume outbound and inbound contact via phone and email channels.
  2. Delivering strong collections performance for nominated accounts to reduce and maintain the aged debt position.
  3. Performing account, billing, and payment reviews to enable collection or corrective actions.
  4. Working effectively with customers to reduce debt promptly and meet targets.
  5. Resolving queries efficiently within SLAs to secure payments.
  6. Collaborating with other business areas for support in dispute resolution.
  7. Conducting Land Registry and other investigative searches to establish liability and manage accounts to resolution.
  8. Mitigating Shell Energy UK credit risk and escalating issues as necessary.
  9. Completing ad hoc tasks to meet monthly collection targets.

What we need from you

  • Experience in B2B debt collection techniques.
  • Desirable: Commercial Utility (Gas/Electricity) experience.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make decisions and perform under pressure.
  • High commercial awareness.
  • Effective time management and self-management skills.
  • Experience managing high-volume collections.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and develop skills.
  • Team player with flexibility in daily tasks.
