Job Summary:
As a Healthcare Support Worker at Bradcare Ltd, you will support service users in their homes by delivering high-quality, person-centred care. Working under the supervision of healthcare professionals or care managers, you will assist with a range of personal, clinical, and therapeutic care tasks in line with the individual’s care plan.
Responsibilities:
· Personal and Clinical Care:
o Assist with personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and continence care.
o Support mobility, including use of hoists, mobility aids, and safe manual handling techniques.
o Monitor vital signs (e.g. temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) under direction, and record/report findings accurately.
o Assist with catheter care, stoma care, and dressing changes under guidance of nursing staff where applicable.
o Administer or prompt prescribed medications, including topical treatments, in accordance with training and care protocols.
o Support service users with PEG feeding, insulin administration, or pressure care as delegated by a registered nurse (where trained and competent).
o Observe and report changes in condition or well-being to the senior carer or healthcare professional.
· Care Planning and Monitoring:
o Accurately maintain daily care records, fluid and nutrition charts, repositioning charts, and medication administration records (MAR sheets).
o Participate in the implementation and review of individual care plans.
o Work alongside district nurses, GPs, and other community health professionals when attending client visits.
· Therapeutic and Emotional Support:
o Provide companionship, social interaction, and emotional reassurance.
o Encourage service users to engage in activities that maintain their independence and well-being.
· Domestic and Lifestyle Support:
o Support with meal preparation, hydration, and dietary needs including special diets.
o Assist with light household duties and errands to support a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
· Previous experience in a care or healthcare support role.
· Understanding of basic nursing care principles and infection control procedures.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Willingness to undertake additional clinical training as required.
· Care Certificate completed.
· Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
