Job Advert Role Description

Purpose: The Staff Nurse works as an effective member of the Multi-Disciplinary team. Promotes the best interests of clients and carers, ensuring prescribed nursing care is effectively implemented. Responsible for maintaining a safe care environment, exercising professional accountability and responsibility within the scope of professional practice.

Responsibilities

1. Deliver prescribed care to a defined group within an agreed framework.
2. Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care with patients and their families, respecting patient choices and acting as the named nurse.
3. Observe and engage with patients to assess needs and evaluate progress.
4. Monitor and review Nursing Care plans.
5. Evaluate and respond to changes in patient condition and needs.
6. Handle suggestions and complaints from patients and families proactively and effectively.
7. Contribute to team-based patient care alongside all members of the Multi-Disciplinary team.
8. Participate in clinical and non-clinical meetings and attend other meetings as required.
9. Prioritize nursing duties, delegate appropriately within the shift, and work as nurse in charge when needed, ensuring a safe environment.
10. Maintain ongoing professional development in line with preceptorship and revalidation requirements.
11. Develop and maintain professional relationships with patients, colleagues, and visitors, responding promptly and courteously.
12. Promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of patients, relatives, and carers.
13. Participate in monthly clinical supervision and reflective practice.
14. Work in accordance with safeguarding policies for adults and children.
15. Ensure compliance with the Mental Health, Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Standards.
16. Adhere to Medicines Management policies at all times.
17. Follow Priory Group policies and protocols and adhere to the NMC Code.

Knowledge and Experience

1. Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with 6-12 months post-registration experience, active NMC registration, and completed preceptorship.
2. Minimum 6 months post-registration experience in a Mental Health Care Environment, with evidence of ongoing professional development.
3. Knowledge of NMC guidelines, requests, and professional practices.
4. Evidence of continuous professional development.
5. Positive attitude and commitment to change, improvement, and quality.
6. Ability to develop flexible and innovative approaches to practice.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
