Where will you be working?

This role will be within our Water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programs aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

What will you be doing?

As our Design Engineer, you’ll work on mechanical & civil design solutions, optimizing plant performance with innovative designs that meet Anglian Water engineering standards.

• Design mechanical and civil aspects of water and wastewater treatment plant solutions.
• Prepare and analyze design options, review with Project Engineers and clients, ensuring risks are mitigated and project basis of design is upheld.
• Perform design calculations for sizing mechanical, hydraulic, and building services equipment.
• Oversee outputs like P&IDs and datasheets, collaborating with the Principal Designer.
• Conduct evaluations and feasibility studies, analyzing data and identifying improvements.
• Work with Project Engineers and Environmental Science Team to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain project documentation including reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Escalate issues impacting time, cost, or quality proactively.
• Lead in Health and Safety, producing safe designs compliant with CDM Regulations and standards.

What you’ll bring

• Minimum HND or bachelor’s degree in mechanical or civil engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, including hydraulics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and permits related to water/wastewater treatment.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
• Membership of professional bodies like IOW or IMECHE; professional registration support available.
