The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Casualty Treaty Underwriter to contribute to the profitable development and maintenance of a high-profile Casualty & Professional Lines Treaty book for UK, London Market, and Global clients. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading team in the London Market, working with talented individuals and gaining exposure to large accounts in a lead capacity, enabling learning, networking, and development at Everest.

This position is based in our London office with a hybrid schedule allowing two remote workdays per week.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain, develop, and profitably underwrite a significant book of Casualty and Professional Lines Treaty business for Domestic, Lloyd’s, and Global clients.
  2. Assess risk suitability considering cycle, exposure management, and profitability.
  3. Build and strengthen relationships with clients and brokers.
  4. Prospect, cultivate, and generate new business.
  5. Collaborate with actuarial, contract wording, finance, legal, and claims departments.
  6. Market Everest to reinsurance brokers and clients through calls, industry events, and conferences/seminars.
  7. Organize and conduct underwriting audits for new and existing accounts.
  8. Monitor account performance and assist with accumulation management.
  9. Stay informed on current industry issues affecting Casualty and Professional Lines business.
  10. Participate in annual planning and set departmental goals.
  11. Mentor junior underwriters regarding company culture, performance, profitability, and underwriting techniques.
  12. Demonstrate teamwork with colleagues in London and globally.

Experience, Skills & Competencies:

  1. Experience in underwriting or progressing towards authority in Casualty and Professional Lines in the London reinsurance market.
  2. Understanding of reinsurance contract terms and conditions.
  3. Strong marketing skills for relationship development.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  5. Self-motivated, independent, with disciplined underwriting approach.
  6. Organized, able to prioritize in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  7. Degree educated; ACII qualification is desirable.
