Educational Psychology Service - Building Bright Futures

Main duties of the job

We thrive in a collaborative and dynamic environment where you'll have the opportunity to work alongside fellow Educational Psychologists, Trainees, and Assistant Psychologists.

As part of Wiltshire's Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) service, the EPS holds a vital role by offering diverse services, actively participating in decision-making processes and contributing to county-wide initiatives. You will be encouraged to develop your skills as part of project work and our ongoing CPD programme, and with connections to Southampton and Bristol Doctoral programmes, there are frequent opportunities for trainee supervision.

In this role, you'll serve as the link EP for various educational settings, offering both statutory advice and preventative work. For the next academic year we will build on our innovative subscription model, further increasing the accessibility of support to our schools and communities. Your strong values of equality, inclusion, and improving outcomes for all will shine as you work with Wiltshires young people, families, and settings.

Specific duties and responsibilities include

  • To support schools, early years settings, families and children and young people through assessment and consultation to facilitate positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people and those with special educational needs.
  • To work collaboratively alongside other support services to deliver integrated and co-ordinated support which is built around the needs of children and young people.
  • To attend and participate in whole service, team meetings, peer supervision sessions and professional training events as required by the line manager.
  • To contribute to the delivery of effective training and interventions for professionals and others across a range of settings.
  • To provide Psychological Advice under the 1996 Education Act and to contribute wherenecessary to Annual Reviews of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • To carry out other duties as may be allocated commensurate with the grade of the post.
  • To work within the codes of conduct and ethics of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Division of Educational and Child Psychology of the British Psychological Society (BPS).Specific requirements for this post:
  • Wiltshire is a large rural authority and this requires frequent use of private transport.
  • The post requires the ability to work remotely from direct line management.
  • The postholder may occasionally take part in meetings when the participants are very anxious and hold conflicting views.
  • Wiltshire staff have access to hubs which operate a hot-desking system.
  • Some assessment materials may require care as they are cumbersome or heavy
