Summary

We are seeking a committed and qualified Educational Psychologist to join our vibrant SEND team in London and surrounding areas on a 6-12 month contract with a local authority. This role is crucial in delivering timely and high-quality psychological advice for statutory assessments of children and young people with special educational needs (SEN), adhering to statutory guidelines and deadlines. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children and young people by collaborating with families, schools, and multi-agency partners to foster inclusive and evidence-based support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Address referrals from the SEND Team to assist with statutory assessments of special educational needs within established timeframes.
  • Perform thorough psychological assessments of children and young people, considering educational, developmental, familial, and community contexts.
  • Deliver clear, robust, and evidence-based psychological advice to support Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Work collaboratively with schools, families, and other professionals to develop interventions and support strategies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation and reports in compliance with legislative and local requirements.
  • Advocate for inclusive practices and contribute to early intervention and graduated response frameworks.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professional practice in line with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) codes of conduct.
  • Engage in team meetings, supervision, CPD activities, and relevant local authority initiatives.
Essential Requirements
  • Must hold Dr professional qualification in Educational Psychology.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist (Educational) in the UK.
  • Demonstrable experience (or placement experience for early career applicants) in applying psychology in educational settings.
  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory processes related to EHCPs.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and accessible psychological reports that inform statutory decision-making.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS for adults and children.
  • Knowledge of child development, learning difficulties, emotional and behavioural needs, and systemic working.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in IT systems and digital tools used for casework, communication, and reporting.
