Educational Psychologist Role

As an Educational Psychologist, you will work at various levels within the local area to apply psychology in promoting inclusion and improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Applying a sound understanding of legislation guiding the work of EPs and adhering to values and time scales.
  • Maintaining knowledge of key strategies and values of the Local Area and EPS, ensuring alignment with individual practice and performance.
  • Contributing to the development of service plans and strategies at a local level.
  • Supporting a positive team ethos and culture.
  • Promoting learning organization methodologies, such as using case work to enable systems-level work and system adaptations.
  • Leading small projects or programs within the EPS or educational settings.
  • Managing own workload to meet service standards.
  • Seeking feedback from educational settings, parents, and children to facilitate service development.
  • Providing advice, consultation, training, and modeling best practices to develop educational provision.
Requirements:
  • Qualified EP from a recognized training course.
  • Experience as a qualified Educational Psychologist or a trainee EP on placement in the public sector.
  • Understanding of psychological theories and their application to individual casework, change, and organizations.
  • Thorough knowledge of legislation, regulations, and frameworks affecting children and young people with SEND.
  • Extensive knowledge of issues facing education for vulnerable pupils with SEND.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including consultation approaches.
  • Enhanced DBS check within the last 12 months or willingness to obtain one.
