Job description

Teaching Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a school based in Newcastle, a forward-thinking school committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Education Support Worker with a background in psychology or childcare to join the team from September 2025.

As an Education Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and emotional challenges. Your understanding of child development and psychological principles will help create a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

You will work closely with teachers and the school's SENCO to deliver tailored support for students with additional needs, including one-to-one and small group interventions.

  • Supporting pupils' social, emotional, and educational development using your knowledge of psychology and childcare

  • Assisting with individualised learning plans and behavioural strategies

  • Working alongside teaching staff to create a positive classroom environment

  • Monitoring and recording student progress and sharing insights with the team

  • Communicating effectively with pupils, staff, and parents to provide holistic support

  • A graduate in Psychology, Childcare, Early Years, or a related field

  • Passionate about working with children and young people

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Experience working with children, gained through placements, volunteering, or internships, is desirable

  • Ability to adapt to the needs of a busy school environment and work as part of a team

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children (DBS clearance required)
