Job summary

BCL Legal is recruiting an Education Solicitor for Newcastle. You will advise on a wide range of education matters for schools, academies and multi-academy trusts as part of the Sports, Education and Charities team.

The role focuses on academy conversions, mergers and governance, with emphasis on safeguarding, exclusions, admissions and SEND issues. You will work regionally and nationally delivering practical client-focused solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience advising education organisations (schools, academies, FE/HE).
• Strong knowledge of academy conversions and school re-brokerage.
• Solid understanding of school structures including multi-academy trusts.
• Experience and understanding of SEND issues, exclusions, admissions, safeguarding and complaints.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on education law across regional and national matters.
• Support academy conversions, mergers and restructures.
• Provide practical guidance on safeguarding, admissions and exclusions.
• Deliver high-quality client service through complex projects for schools and MATs.

EDUCATION SOLICITOR - NEWCASTLE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced education lawyer to join a highly regarded law firm in Newcastle.

The Sports, Education and Charities team is an exciting and dynamic practice area supporting a broad range of clients regionally and nationally across all three sectors. The nationally recognised team advises on a wide variety of matters, ranging from day-to-day legal support through to strategically significant projects, including mergers, collaborations and restructures.

The successful candidate will have experience advising a range of education organisations, including some or all of the following:

• Academy conversion projects
• Merger and re-brokerage projects
• A strong working knowledge of the structure of educational establishments, from schools through to multi-academy trusts and further and higher education institutions
• Experience and understanding of:
  • SEND issues
  • Exclusions and admissions
  • SEND tribunals
  • Safeguarding
  • Complaints handling

You will ideally have over 5 years' PQE, with significant experience in the education sector and a strong commitment to delivering excellent client service.
