Job summary

Reed in Partnership is recruiting an Education Partnership Co-ordinator in London to strengthen the Central London Careers Hub and support SEND schools and colleges in delivering effective careers education.

The role focuses on engaging with Local Authority partners, LEPs and employers to expand impact, coordinating with the Skills Lead, and developing activities that motivate young people toward informed choices and positive outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience engaging and building relationships with leaders from schools, colleges and businesses.
  • Delivery of services or projects with multiple stakeholders including volunteers.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication with diverse audiences in education/careers.
  • Understanding of school culture and the careers education landscape.
  • Knowledge of local and national policy relating to skills and economic development.
  • Familiarity with post-16 landscape including NAS, Uni-Connect, National Careers Service and T Levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative and able to build relationships at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing and growing the Careers Hub locally by engaging and supporting a caseload of SEND, mainstream and AP setting and Enterprise Advisers (EAs).
  • Building and maintaining relationships with senior leaders in local SEND schools and colleges.
  • Recruit senior level business volunteers from local businesses and match them to schools and colleges within the EA Network.
  • Provide induction training, co-ordinate EA network meetings and identify/deliver ongoing training.
  • Support Careers & Enterprise Fund recipients to coordinate delivery with LEP and local EAN.
  • Build understanding of local context of careers provision and align with national context.
  • Ensure schools/colleges complete compass evaluations and Gatsby Benchmark performance.
  • Lead and coordinate relationships between EA, schools/college and Careers Hub with focus on outcomes.
  • Host inductions in the evening.

The purpose of the Central London Careers Hub is to provide young people with a world-class careers education system by increasing support for schools and colleges from employers, increasing coordination of careers provision in schools and colleges, and helping every young person access the information, skills, and experiences they need to make an informed decision about their future.

What is the role about?

The Education Partnership Co-ordinator sits at the heart of the local EAN in order to help SEND schools and colleges improve their careers and enterprise programmes and to engage with the world of work. Working closely with the Skills Lead/Hub Lead, the EC will ensure the EAN is embedded into the LEP/Combined Authority/Local Authority skills strategy and make it easier for employers to engage with schools and colleges. Through establishing the local and national contexts the EC will focus everyone’s efforts on programmes and activities that are most effective in motivating young people, supporting independent choice, and supporting positive outcomes for young people.

Day-to-day responsibilities
  • Establishing and growing the Careers Hub locally by engaging and supporting a caseload of SEND, mainstream and AP setting and Enterprise Advisers (EAs)
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with senior leaders in local SEND schools and colleges within the caseload.
  • Recruit senior level business volunteers from local businesses and successfully match them to schools and colleges within the Enterprise Adviser Network.
  • Provide ongoing support to business volunteers and schools including induction training, coordinating EA network meetings and identifying and delivering ongoing training to meet individual EAs development needs,
  • Support Careers & Enterprise Fund recipients to ensure they are coordinating delivery with the LEAP and local EAN and providing feedback on them to the Network Lead and the Investment Team.
  • Build an understanding of the local context of careers provision and providers including and how these fit with the national context.
  • Ensuring all schools and colleges are completing compass evaluations, driving Gatsby Benchmark performance and therefore all young people are benefiting from high quality careers education.
  • Leading and coordinating relationships between the EA, the school/college and the wider Careers Hub with a focus on impact and destination outcomes for young people.
  • Build a strong understanding of national developments in careers education, keeping schools and business volunteers informed of changes. (i.e. changes in statutory guidance)
  • There will be a requirement to host inductions in the evening

To be successful in this role, we are looking for
  • Demonstrable experience of engaging and building relationships with leaders from schools, colleges and businesses.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivery of services or projects with multiple stakeholders particularly with volunteers
  • A strong track record of stakeholder engagement and management and of communicating with a variety of audiences, preferably in the education and careers sector.
  • A demonstrable understanding of school culture and the challenges faced by schools in delivering careers and enterprise, and the current careers education and corporate social responsibility landscapes.
  • An understanding of relevant local and national policy relating to skills and economic development and the issues and barriers to employment faced by young people.
  • A demonstrable understanding of post-16 landscape including National Apprenticeship Service, Uni-Connect, National Careers Service and T Levels.
  • Excellent communication (including written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to persuade a variety of audiences and encourage others to use new ways of working.
  • Collaborative and good at building relationships at all levels, both internally and with a range of external stakeholders.
  • Experience working with Alternative Provision Proactive, with the ability to work independently, prioritising a busy workload and a large number of stakeholders.
  • Adaptable, tenacious, determined, positive and resilient with the ability to deal with ambiguity and work in a start-up culture.
  • A willingness to be flexible, with evening and potential weekend work required.
  • A minimum of 2 A-Levels or an equivalent Level 3 Diploma.
  • GCSE English Language at a minimum of a Grade B (or equivalent Level 2 qualification).
  • OR achievement of a Level 2 in Literacy Assessment at interview stage.
  • Desirable Degree or relevant qualification – Level 3 or 4 NVQ.
  • Fluent in a community language such as: Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Somali, Vietnamese, Dari, Yoruba, Turkish, French, Spanish, Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, Farsi, Guajarati, Polish, Serbian and Greek.
